Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for development, implementation, documentation, and maintaining the manufacturing processes. This position works closely in a team environment to improve safety, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing efficiency in a variety of processes including raw metal processing, welding, coatings, assembly, and final shipment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes proven lean manufacturing based analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills/abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement while improving employee safety.
  • Collects and analyzes data to identify root cause of problems and implement corrective action measures for improvement.
  • Plays a key role on project development/implementation teams for new/existing products and process. This includes the development of floor plan layouts, cost justification for new and used equipment, documentation and troubleshooting of new and existing processes as well as responding to floor issues to ensure productive flow of product.
  • Performs independent work to ensure that poka-yoke techniques are launched during the product and process design phases as a means to address quality issues.
  • Develops documentation for new and existing products to include engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, quality checklists, BOMs, routings, estimates, etc.
  • Develops detailed work instruction documentation for new and existing products.
  • Reviews customer requirements and specifications. Consult with cross-functional teams and customers to assure the processes will meet specifications.
  • Performs general calculations and design layouts to ensure accuracy and compliance to customer specifications.
  • Represents the department and company during meetings with external customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or related fields is required.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, welding, assembly, and coating applications is preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Experience using CAD software preferred.
