Overview

Manufacturing Engineer role at Flex. Location: Columbia, South Carolina. Reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes by providing technical support in the development, implementation, and documentation of manufacturing methods. Aims to optimize manufacturing processes flow to meet customer product quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Understand manufacturing and test equipment concepts, technologies, and techniques
• Manage manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters
• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods
• Define equipment maintenance requirements, identify root causes of equipment failures, and develop hands-on maintenance skills
• Collaborate with other engineering stakeholders and customers on problem solving and continuous improvement to the design of equipment and products; may develop corrective and preventive action plans
• May be involved in development and update of PFMEA for new products
• May participate in control plan development
• Write and update work instructions and other documents (e.g., specifications, procedures)
• Analyze and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
• Confer with production group concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
• Coordinate with customers to determine product specifications and design changes and respond to customer requests
• Provide information for management decisions from technical and cost perspectives
• Communicate with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements

Qualifications (required)

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and training
• 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Process and POMs
• Experience in Agile, ERP, BAAN, and DMS systems
• Experience in Process Engineering
• Knowledge of end-to-end processes (Front End / Back End)
• Key operation and engineering indicators metrics
• Advanced operations, technical and people skills
• Knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies at the site
• Advanced functional and technical skills and basic process skills
• Skilled troubleshooting, diagnostics, and ability to train others; able to run and explain simulations
