Overview


We are seeking a skilled and driven Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, optimization, and maintenance of production processes for fabricated, cast, and machined components, as well as subassemblies and finished products. This role plays a key part in enhancing product quality, reducing costs, and ensuring manufacturing efficiency through continuous improvement and lean principles. This position is mechanically focused rather than electrically oriented.



Base pay range


$100,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr



Key Responsibilities



  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to support cost-effective, safe, and high-quality assembly, testing, and inspection of products.

  • Research and design efficient production workflows, assembly methods, and manufacturing equipment.

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies to enhance production performance.

  • Identify and drive opportunities for cost savings and product improvements by modifying fabrication processes, tooling, equipment, materials, and product designs.

  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including FMEA, control plans, process flows, work instructions, and inspection plans.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide hands-on technical guidance to manufacturing teams using data analysis, engineering principles, and subject matter expertise.

  • Collaborate with design engineering on component changes, obsolescence issues, and product enhancements.

  • Participate in design reviews, process audits, supplier quality reviews, first article inspections, and failure analysis investigations.

  • Proactively report quality issues to management to support corrective actions and prevent recurrence.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the business.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (defense industry experience highly preferred)

  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain or currently hold a DoD Secret Clearance

  • Willingness to travel up to 5% as needed

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with electro-mechanical assemblies and schematics

  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and performance specifications

  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery

  • Skilled in manufacturing process development and improvement

  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (such as Inventor, Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD)



Preferred Skills



  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies

  • Experience with mechanical assembly, machining, welding, and/or castings

  • Familiarity with NC machinery, fixturing, and tooling

  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification

  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

  • Proven experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes

  • Ability to document and transfer tribal knowledge into formalized work instructions

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in team environments
