Hartzell is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to support all aspects of manufacturing at AMI and AWI. In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting estimating with new opportunities, developing manufacturing processes for new products, and for continuous improvement of existing long-term product orders. This role will also support quality engineering functions when required to aid in new product introduction.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate time and costs for manufacturing.
- Review customer specifications and drawings to determine manufacturing requirements, including sub-contracting (surface finishing, heat-treating, NDT, etc.).
- Estimate and design welding and manufacturing tooling and fixtures.
- Develop shop floor routings and select subcontractors to fulfill manufacturing requirements.
- Create internal drawings.
- Collaborate with shop floor employees to resolve manufacturing challenges and develop robust, efficient processes.
- Write work instructions and internal processes.
- Consult with customers and manage new product development timelines.
- Work with suppliers to meet customer needs.
- Develop quality control plans to ensure part conformity.
- Support quality engineers with programming of CMM equipment for new product introduction.
First Year Success Factors
- Familiarity with all AMI products.
- Ability to develop conforming manufacturing sequences within AMI systems.
- Demonstrated aptitude for process development and improvement.
- Independent development of tooling and work-holding solutions.
