Pay Range: $40-$46/hr. The pay rate may differ depending on your skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.

Responsibilities include:

  • The Supplier Manufacturing Engineer creates statements of work, processes, procedures, and production layouts for the manufacturing of tooling assemblies, machining, and material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Will work closely with tooling design team and in-house fabrication group to translate complex tooling designs to instructions suppliers can bid and fabricate.
  • Responsible for tooling liaison support between Manufacturing Suppliers and Tooling group.
  • Will coordinate directly with suppliers to ensure all aspects of the build process are understood and responsible for suppliers meeting quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, composites, GD&T, grinding, laser cutting, water jet, and shop aid building are needed for the role.
  • Knowledge of CAD software such as NX and Catia and laser inspection is preferred but not required.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support development of tooling packages for supplier bid process through procurement group. Read and analyze complex GD&T drawings and help analyze existing drawings to identify shortcomings or missing information.
  • Track supplier performance and answer all technical questions related to the manufacturing of tools.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment to support suppliers in manufacturing of tooling.
  • Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in tool design layout to fellow responsible engineers or designers.
  • Interact with design and development teams (teams include specialists in Design, Analysis, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing) to meet all design tooling requirements (technical, cost, schedule).
  • Support activities related to estimating, RFQ/RFP/RFI, and ROM pricing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering/scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering facility or equivalent.
  • Composite experience is a plus.
  • CAD solid modeling (experience with NX/CATIA) and drafting experience are a plus.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellence.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with GD&T best practices.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with tooling design, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing is a plus.
  • Oral and written communication, computer, documentation, and presentation skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

Must Have:

  • Manufacturing engineering knowledge, machining knowledge, GD&T, process improvement, working with suppliers.
  • Project management, technical writing experience (nice to have).
  • Someone who is detail-oriented that has experience in manufacturing process and machining that is comfortable explaining complex technical issues to suppliers.
  • BS in Engineering.
  • Working with design engineering and fabrication team to develop statements of work, review drawings for manufacturability, coordinate meetings with suppliers for progress updates, update internal metrics and present to leadership.
