Overview
Column Technical Services is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to work at a growing manufacturing firm in Itasca, IL! The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards with in the stamping and steel fabrication industry. They will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls and coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Responsibilities
- Spearhead the engineering and project management for all the parts projects from beginning to end
- Work specifically with the automotive customer and their product engineering
- Handle the quoting and making the blueprints for products
- Follow company Quality policy, procedures, and proper documentation process.
- Practice good housekeeping based on 5S principles.
- Report to work every day, on time, and ready to work.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Investigate operational problems affecting production and resolve in a systematic and timely manner.
- Apply common processes and concepts in lean problem solving, root cause analysis, and waste reduction tools.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Design, develop & procure assembly fixtures.
- Use and interpret SPC data to develop robust assembly processes
- Work with engineering and other departments to produce cost estimates for new designs by estimating TAKT, tooling & fixture requirements, costs, etc.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of Manufacturing Engineer experience in a role supporting manufacturing operations.
- Experience in the fabrication/stamping industry, preferably worked on automotive products
- BS in Engineering, or equivalent.
- Advanced Math
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Pro-E, SolidWorks, CATIA or ANSI Y14.5
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Designing and troubleshooting PLC systems.
- PLC based programming stations and functional testers for mechanical and electronic systems.
