Responsibilities
The Process Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment to ensure continuous production of advanced ceramic and composite materials that meet or exceed customer expectations. This role supports a global, dynamic, hi-tech team serving the semiconductor, medical and aerospace industries. We are a leader in developing and manufacturing ceramic and metallized parts for semiconductor, medical, and aerospace markets, including implantable medical components and aerospace components to support safety and reliability.
- Develop and implement safe, optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment platforms.
- Research, design, and develop manufacturing processes including production workflow, raw material specifications, mixing, molding, high-temperature baking processes, and equipment specifications.
- Design, develop, test, and/or outsource various processes, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
- Develop manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials, routers, work instructions, and control plans using manufacturing engineering best practices.
- Support new product development and testing, product and process validation, product audits, drawing & BOM conformance, and projects related to standard work and reducing process variation.
- Support the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
- Prepare quotations for labor, tooling, and equipment to support business unit requirements.
- Perform product/process analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives for cost reduction, scrap reduction, yield improvements and overall equipment efficiency.
- Represent process engineering on cross-functional teams; communicate with engineering, quality and supply chain to assist in MRB, RMA, material disposition, root-cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
- Write and submit Capital Expenditure requests.
- EVALUATE and troubleshoot manufacturing, quality and assembly line issues using FMEA and other problem-solving methods; perform process capacity and capability analysis.
- Assist in training shop floor associates on manufacturing processes and methods.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years of related experience
- Proficient in CNC programming including G and M-Codes
- Experience with Fanuc controllers preferable
- Ability to work with production operators and train on CNC programs
- Proficient in working with Mastercam and Solidworks programs
- Experience with manufacturing processes that utilize raw material handling, mixing, molding, and high-temperature baking equipment (mixers, presses, ovens, etc.)
- Basic understanding of quality management systems in ISO 9001/AS 9100
- Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
- Experience with developing/documenting procedures
- Materials experience – ceramics
- This position requires use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) under ITAR, EAR, and NRC regulations
