Summary: Utilizes engineering methodology to support program launch readiness, production planning and continuous improvement. Provides the necessary weld engineering knowledge, processing skills and technical support to the company to ensure AR achieves optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery to internal and external customer’s satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development, review, maintenance, and control of engineering documentation. Including TDP (Technical Data Package), MBOM (Manufacturing Bill of Material), Process Flow / Routings, Work Instructions, Floor Layouts, Packaging, and PFMEA where required.
  • Provide estimating support for OVS (Outside Vendor Sourcing) quoting.
  • Author PCR (Process Change Request) and ECN (Engineering Change Requests) and process actions in PLEX.
  • Develop and validate processes and processing times / standards.
  • Work with Operations, Quality, and Material departments to ensure validation checks are built into the process.
  • Identify and address opportunities to eliminate waste within the manufacturing process.
  • Participate in cost reduction efforts and support/implement continuous improvement activities.
  • Support corrective actions as required.
  • Support Program Management in APQP activities, as well as project cost adherence.
  • Consult with customers, and provide expertise, to maximize the integrity, efficiency, and manufacturability of designs on new and existing projects.
  • Provide floor support during trouble shooting activities with machines and process.
  • Assist with customer activities/support as requested.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD software such as Solid Works and Autocad.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Extensive working knowledge of manufacturing practices in a diverse range of processes such as machining, welding, and assembly.
  • GD&T experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of process flows, material flow, assistive tooling devices.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and varying environment.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply problem solving tools and methodology to a variety of manufacturing and business process issues.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering field and five (5) years manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years of fabrication/machining and metal experience along with program/project management experience preferred. Experience with precision measuring equipment helpful. Military background or experience preferred but not required.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
