Key Responsibilities
- Develop methods, tooling, and techniques to continuously reduce the time and effort involved in setting up, changing over, and operating manufacturing equipment.
- Implement bottleneck cycle time reduction in manufacturing cells.
- Troubleshoot PLC programs as required (Siemens & Allen Bradley).
- Modify manufacturing processes for safety, quality, cost reduction, or design changes.
- Assist in budget preparation, schedule expenditures, manage project budgets, and initiate corrective actions to achieve financial objectives.
- Manage capital projects, including equipment specification development, coordination of equipment runoffs, installation, and management of outside contractors.
- Update and maintain equipment drawings, layouts, and documentation for production and equipment.
- Develop engineering solutions for repetitive equipment/process failures.
- Identify departmental training needs and provide training to improve skill levels.
- Review and coordinate TPM, PM, Proactive Maintenance, and Predictive Maintenance programs to prevent failures and maximize uptime.
- Own PFMEA, Control plans, and process flows in collaboration with Quality Engineers.
- Support shop floor teams through daily interactions, problem-solving, and developing standard work instructions.
- Manage outside contractors involved in process and equipment improvements.
- Collaborate across all organizational levels to improve machinery and process efficiency.
- Lead Kaizen activities and document results.
- Understand significant environmental aspects and operational controls related to the job.
Qualifications and Skills
Formal qualifications required:
- At least two years of experience in manufacturing engineering and automation.
- Lean Enterprise experience.
Desirable skills:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Specific capabilities, knowledge, and skills:
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, MfgPro, Kronos.
