Key Responsibilities

  • Develop methods, tooling, and techniques to continuously reduce the time and effort involved in setting up, changing over, and operating manufacturing equipment.
  • Implement bottleneck cycle time reduction in manufacturing cells.
  • Troubleshoot PLC programs as required (Siemens & Allen Bradley).
  • Modify manufacturing processes for safety, quality, cost reduction, or design changes.
  • Assist in budget preparation, schedule expenditures, manage project budgets, and initiate corrective actions to achieve financial objectives.
  • Manage capital projects, including equipment specification development, coordination of equipment runoffs, installation, and management of outside contractors.
  • Update and maintain equipment drawings, layouts, and documentation for production and equipment.
  • Develop engineering solutions for repetitive equipment/process failures.
  • Identify departmental training needs and provide training to improve skill levels.
  • Review and coordinate TPM, PM, Proactive Maintenance, and Predictive Maintenance programs to prevent failures and maximize uptime.
  • Own PFMEA, Control plans, and process flows in collaboration with Quality Engineers.
  • Support shop floor teams through daily interactions, problem-solving, and developing standard work instructions.
  • Manage outside contractors involved in process and equipment improvements.
  • Collaborate across all organizational levels to improve machinery and process efficiency.
  • Lead Kaizen activities and document results.
  • Understand significant environmental aspects and operational controls related to the job.

Qualifications and Skills

Formal qualifications required:

  • At least two years of experience in manufacturing engineering and automation.
  • Lean Enterprise experience.

Desirable skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Specific capabilities, knowledge, and skills:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, MfgPro, Kronos.
