Job Description Summary: This position will be responsible for all operations on D shift while creating a high performing team mindset in alignment with Injection molding. This shift will be 7p - 7a on a 3-2-2-3 schedule. The position will be responsible for supervising all aspects of manufacturing at our injection molding facility in Sumter, SC on a 3-2-2-3 shift. Must be willing to work either day or night shift and flexible to work outside of normal schedule as needed. The role involves overseeing 97 injection presses while collaborating with engineering, quality control, purchasing, and other departments to ensure efficient and cost-effective production of medical devices.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with engineering/maintenance to reduce machine downtime, PM activities, and production schedules.
  2. Monitor existing products for process deviations and initiate corrective action as needed.
  3. Respond to customer complaints regarding quality or delivery.
  4. Work with Quality Control to resolve issues related to non-conforming material.
  5. Develop training programs for operators and maintenance personnel.
  6. Ensure compliance with FDA regulations and GMPs.
  7. Perform regular audits of the manufacturing floor to identify potential safety hazards or quality problems.
  8. Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, and inventory control to optimize supply chain efficiency.
  9. Assist in the development of annual budgets and capital expenditure plans.
  10. Participate in cross-functional teams focused on continuous improvement projects.
  11. Proven track record of reducing waste and driving safety.
  12. Additional duties as assigned by Manufacturing Unit Leader.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in injection molding preferred
  • Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment or Tier 1 automotive strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of plastics injection molding processes desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities including team building, coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution
  • Proven track record as a change agent and culture builder
  • Knowledge and experience of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Previous experience as a supervisor leading 20 or more employees for 2+ years
  • Proven success in driving waste reduction
  • Must be able to work 12-hour night or 12-hour day shifts on a 3-2-2-3 schedule

Work Environment

  • BD is a smoke-free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.
  • False eyelashes, press-on nails, and jewelry are not allowed on the production floor. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
  • Shoes must be steel-toe and non-slip for safety on the production floor.
