SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Manufacturing Manager will ensure cohesive interaction among the operations functions to meet corporate goals. This individual will provide leadership to production supervisors through goal setting and feedback, maintaining focus on tactical and strategic plans aligned with corporate objectives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Share common goals based on financial expectations for the plant, including quality, production, maintenance, safety, customer and internal quality, scrap, downtime, etc.
2. Optimize production staffing to maximize effective cost structure.
3. Drive improvements using data from OEE and Tableau systems, addressing performance gaps identified in daily reports.
4. Develop housekeeping standards to ensure optimal production area conditions.
5. Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve deviations from standards quickly.
6. Monitor and improve daily, weekly, and monthly production performance, correcting negative trends promptly.
7. Manage production-related spending within budget, prioritizing activities for maximum benefit.
8. Establish manufacturing methods ensuring quality and process repeatability.
9. Develop flexible changeover programs to minimize downtime between production runs.
10. Lead, develop, and manage production personnel to operate safely, efficiently, and effectively, including supervisors, operators, technicians, packers, and material handlers.
11. Network with other Silgan locations to share best practices and optimize processes.
12. Provide regular reports on production performance with analysis and corrective actions.
13. Assist with capital projects from inception to completion.
14. Ensure a safe working environment and team safety compliance.
15. Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve performance through capital planning and workflow redesign.
16. Communicate effectively with the Plant Manager and team about key production issues affecting safety, quality, cost, or lead times.
17. Maintain accurate and unbiased performance data entry for facility performance tracking.
18. Participate in the plant Safety Committee, demonstrating a strong safety commitment.
19. Support 24/7 blow molding operations as needed.
20. Ensure compliance with environmental standards at local, state, and federal levels.

AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable)

EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a Technical discipline

EXPERIENCE

Required: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a medium to large manufacturing facility in a management role.
Preferred: 5-10 years’ experience as a Production Manager in a Shuttle blow or 2-Step PET molding facility.

SKILLS

Required:

• Bilingual (Spanish and English)
• Experience with quick changeover methods
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Proven leadership in a high-speed production environment
• Commitment to safety
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Effective communication skills
• Interpersonal and coaching skills
• Organizational skills

Preferred:

• Experience with SMED
• Knowledge of SPC
• Experience with Total Preventative Maintenance Systems
• Processing background in blow molding
• Troubleshooting with Shuttle platforms (Sabmann, Bekum, Kautex, B&W, Battenfeld Fischer)
• Financial acumen
