Blue Diamond Materials, part of the Colas USA family and Sully-Miller Companies, operates multiple asphalt plants in Southern California. We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Controller to oversee financial operations within our manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Develop, implement, and monitor budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate with operations and management to enhance cost control measures.
- Oversee inventory management and cost accounting processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Lead financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.
- Provide financial support for capital projects and investment decisions.
- Mentor and lead a team of finance professionals.
- Maintain and develop internal control procedures; uphold Colas ethics and business principles.
- Ad hoc projects and reporting as needed.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in accounting, finance or other applicable degree.
- At least 7 years of accounting work experience.
Desired Skills and Abilities
- Construction industry accounting experience including WIP reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, including revenue recognition and lease accounting standards.
- Experience managing a small team; CPA and/or CMA certification preferred.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel); experience with JDE, Sage, Timberline or similar construction software is a plus.
- Motivated, professional, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to type and prepare reports; ability to stand or sit for extended periods as needed.
- Ability to see clearly with or without corrective lenses.
