As Manufacturing Engineer, you\u2019ll play a key role in the integration and mechanical design of high-power systemsluding pulsed power assemblies, vacuum and pressure vessels, laser chambers, optics handling and related hardware.
This is a hands-on, collaborative role where you\u2019ll work across engineering and technical teams to bring hardware from concept to operation. We\u2019re looking for engineers who bring deep technical expertise, a strong sense of ownership, and the desire to solve hard problems.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical (and thermal) analysis for pulsed power, vacuum, laser, and optical conditioning components using finite element analysis (FEA) for static as well as transient conditions.
- Materials compatibility with corrosive reactants analyses
- Hands on system integration.
- Pressure vessel/component and vacuum vessel certifications, over-tests, to prevailing code standards
- Communicate and interact with mechanical, laser and optical engineering members of the design team
- Follow the design of the prototype system and subsystems through Preliminary and Final Designs
- Support procurement of the hardware for the prototype laser amplifiers and optical conditioning equipment
- Oversee and assist assembly by a team of interdisciplinary technicians
- Support shake-down and testing of the laser amplifiers optical conditioning and ancillary systems
- Support ongoing operation of the subject equipment/systems
- Continue above roles and responsibilities to participate in subsequent amplifier up-scaling leading to that which is needed for a power-producing IFE reactor
- Participate in concept studies supporting the use of these lasers in a power-producing IFE reactor, and other applications
Qualifications
- Bachelor\u2019s in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or related
- Hands-on experience working on pulsed power, RF, directed energy or other related technologies
- High voltage experience
- A willingness to assimilate knowledge from senior technical staff
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
