Custodian Job at Sandoval County in Rio Rancho

Under general supervision, performs a variety of cleaning and custodial functions to maintain assigned County buildings and facilities.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and six months of custodial experience involving interior cleaning and maintenance.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

• Valid New Mexico driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
• Must pass a background check applicable to the position.

This position is subject to random alcohol and drug testing in accordance with Sandoval County policies and procedures, including the Drug-Free Workplace policy and the Sandoval County Detention Center SOPs. It also involves bi-annual background checks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide variety of cleaning and custodial services, including trash removal, dusting, window cleaning, floor mopping, and restroom sanitation.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors, furnishings, and restroom facilities; restock supplies and sanitize as needed.
• Sweep and maintain sidewalk areas around facilities.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs to identify maintenance needs such as lighting, plumbing, or minor repairs.
• Maintain inventories of supplies and inform supervisors when replenishments are needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
