DESCRIPTION

Responsible for general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies. Conduct daily cleaning to keep facilities operational and professionally presentable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned buildings and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
  • Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Replenish all supplies as needed.
  • Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
  • Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
  • May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to supervisor.
  • May assist or perform minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
  • Kitchen: Wash dishes with bleach, clean microwave and refrigerator, clean sink with cleanser and then aluminum cleaner, wipe down counters and cabinets, wall areas, light switches, water dispensers, mirrors, and glass. Restock area with coffee, paper goods, sugar, creamer. Get case of copy paper out as needed.
  • Bathrooms: clean mirrors, lavatories, walls, light switches, door facings, toilets.
  • Trash: Gather trash from all offices, bathrooms (including depository in the women's restroom) and kitchen.
  • Mop: Staff restroom and kitchen, small restrooms and two large restrooms, lobby and coke machine area. (All tiled areas)
  • Dust: Light fixtures, ceiling edges, tops of doors and doors, corners, baseboards, and furniture.
  • Vacuum: Buildings as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all information regarding clients, staff, physicians, and GCLC obtained as a result of employment at GCLC.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor, Chief Financial Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Preference given to applicant with experience in janitorial work.
  • Must be able to operate standard cleaning equipment (vacuums, carpet cleaners, etc.).
  • Must pass CYFD/FBI fingerprint clearance check to maintain employment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass and maintain a Driving Record clearance in accordance with GCLC policies and procedures.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions.

  • Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Physical work is a primary part of job.
  • Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with passengers.
  • Must be able to assist passengers when needed.
