Essential Functions

• Demonstrates consistent and punctual attendance at the work site(s)
• Adjusts work hours as needed to meet the needs of the building(s)
• Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the facility each day and determines that all doors and windows are secured and lights (except those left on for safety reasons) are turned off
• Keeps buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times
• Handles basic mechanical functions and understands building operations and schedules
• Attends staff development trainings and workshops as needed to improve work skills
• Problem solves solutions to building issues as related to the employee’s work responsibilities
• Uses approved materials/chemicals and equipment in accordance with applicable safety standards
• Maintains a regular service schedule on all motors, mechanical equipment, ballasts, and lights
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity
• Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas and other areas as needed and in accordance with weather conditions
• Checks daily to ensure that all exterior doors are secure and operating properly
• Raises and lowers the flags at the beginning and at the end of the work day if the flags are not properly illuminated
• Sweeps classrooms/common areas daily and dusts work areas as needed
• Cleans corridors and removes debris during the day as often as is required
• Clean and disinfect toilets and bathroom floors daily; cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains with approved products
• Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice a year and more frequently if necessary
• Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation
• Cleans chalkboards/whiteboards at least once a week or as needed
• Moves furniture and equipment as required for various activities as directed by the principal or supervisor
