About the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board:
The Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board is the governing body of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, located in Plainfield, Indiana. The Board is comprised of 17 members appointed by the governor. It sets the requirements and criteria for the basic training of law enforcement officers throughout Indiana, which has been mandatory since 1972.
Role Overview:
Serve as a Building Custodian within the Housekeeping Department of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA). Responsible for cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure the academy buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. Reports to the Building Custodian Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience as a Building Custodian (minimum of three (3) years preferred, but not required)
- Valid driver’s license
Salary:
The salary typically starts at $34,216.00 but may be adjusted based on education or experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions include:
- Supervising custodial equipment and supplies
- Organizing work to meet daily and long-term goals
- Providing supervision, guidance, training, and support to staff
- Inspecting work for quality and completion
- Completing maintenance reports and activity inspections
- Handling hazardous spills and biohazard materials following proper procedures
- Maintaining inventory and material records
- Cleaning, restocking, and sanitizing office spaces
- Attendance at the assigned worksite(s) is essential

What You'll Need for Success:
- Knowledge of custodial processes, practices, and procedures
- Proficiency with custodial equipment operation
- Understanding of Safety Data Sheets and chemical mixing
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff
- Use and maintenance of power equipment and hand tools
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their applications
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow safety procedures for biohazards and mold remediation
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role may include supervisory duties based on agency needs.
