Description

Under direct supervision, performs basic cleaning duties. This position notes that pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, the role may require access to critical infrastructure and includes responsibilities to maintain the security or integrity of University infrastructure. The position requires personnel to be routinely reviewed to determine whether a criminal history or connections to government or foreign adversaries could affect the ability to maintain security or integrity of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops and scrubs floors, stairs and other surfaces inside and outside buildings.
• Vacuums carpet in offices, rooms and public areas; scrubs, strips, waxes, and buffs floors using powered scrubber and buffer; shampoos carpet and rugs using shampooing machine.
• Empties wastebaskets, pencil sharpeners, smoking urns, ashtrays, etc. into containers or bags; replaces liners and places trash in collection area for removal.
• Wipes, dusts and/or polishes furniture, fixtures, glass doors and windows, door trims, etc.
• Wipes and scrubs sinks, toilets and tiles; replenishes soaps, towels, toilet paper, etc.
• Notifies appropriate supervisor of potential safety and maintenance issues and when supplies need replenishment.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Requires the ability to read, write and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling.
• No experience is required.
