Position Function:
Under the direct supervision of the building principal/designee, performs general cleaning and maintenance in central office and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to staff, visitors, and others as necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Checks and secures building at beginning and end of shift for safety and cleanliness.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas according to district standards.
- Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips, and waxes floors.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds.
- Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
- Removes graffiti, cleans glass areas.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables, and equipment in meeting and functional rooms.
- Clears snow from entrances and walks, spreads sand and ice-melting chemicals.
- Performs grounds-keeping duties, clears debris, and maintains grounds.
- Receives deliveries and assists in unloading trucks and storing supplies.
- Delivers supplies and materials to various areas.
- Empties wastebaskets, removes trash, and assists in recycling.
Additional Duties:
- Performs cleaning and repair work, especially during school vacations.
- Assists parents and visitors during events and programs.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Equipment: Uses hand tools and power equipment such as brooms, mops, cleaning machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, and mowers.
Safety Requirements: Follows safety rules, wears appropriate gear, and complies with chemical hygiene protocols.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel between schools or to the central office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to follow work orders and coordinate with staff.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to describe maintenance issues.
- Ability to establish cooperative relationships.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Comfort working at heights.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to work in school environments and outdoors.
- Exposure to chemicals and outdoor elements.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in building maintenance desirable.
- KY Motor Vehicle Operator's license or own transportation.
