Overview

Position: Personal Financial Counselor, Fresno, CA. The role provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include delivering the full range of personal financial counseling services to service members and their families, including education and counseling, one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or other providers, briefings and presentations, and referrals. Works closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program is within scope and meets installation needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and provide informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate, publicize and deliver a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events per DoDI 1322.34).
• Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web, secure online chat, or video conference) as authorized by the contract; virtual PFC support may be restricted as required.
• Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision; share trends and issues observed at assigned installations.
• Participate in regular in-services/training and quality improvement activities as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; may consider an associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of bachelor's; or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of bachelor's.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
• Ability to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation (as required by contract).
• One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
