Director of Finance (In-person, Central Valley - Fresno) This is an in-person position reporting to our Corporate office in Fresno, CA . Relocation package can be considered for the selected candidate. The Director of Finance oversees the Finance Department and activities, ensuring compliance with all federal and state requirements. The Director of Finance supervises and provides direction to staff to ensure timely completion of accounting and finance functions. Overview Summary Of Responsibilities Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other members of the UHC management team to support financial planning, budgeting, and reporting. Develop and maintain financial/operational statistics, record keeping, and reporting systems. Develop, improve, and maximize the budgeting process system. Monitor long- and short-term debt, ensure on-time payments, compute interest, and allocate interest expenses. Enforce internal control policies and financial procedures. Enter and maintain documentation for accounts payable, its coding, and cost accounting. Reconcile general ledger accounts to subsidiary records monthly. Work with program staff to prepare budgets for government contracts and other billable activities. Manage financial aspects of federal, state, and local contracts and grants. Oversee, with the independent auditor, the preparation of the annual audit. Supervise the reconciliation process of bank deposits and cash receipts. Assist with annual audit. Ensure HRSA financial compliance. Performance Area 1 Prepare profit and loss statements, monthly closings, and cost accounting reports. Supervise and analyze financial information, prepare entries to accounts, and document business transactions. Establish and coordinate accounting controls to safeguard assets. Provide analysis of budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding, contracts, and grants. Monitor and review system reports for accuracy and completeness. Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents. Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend budget levels to control expenditures. Resolve accounting discrepancies and maintain financial databases and systems. Interact with internal and external auditors during audits. Maintain subsidiary ledgers (A/R, A/P, FA). Qualification Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting or equivalent education and experience. CPA certification and/or accreditation is preferred. License/Certification Possess a valid CA Driver's License. Prior Experience Minimum of five (5) years directing accounting activities, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting (ambulatory care preferred). Knowledge of general cost accounting methods. General billing and collection experience (healthcare billing preferred). Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work with difficult customers (internal and external). Skills Knowledge of accounting software (Abila MIP preferred). Strong data interpretation and budgeting analysis skills. Team player with customer-service orientation. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel and Word); strong written and verbal communication. Problem-solving skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks. The pay range for this exempt position starts at $140,000 per year. Salary ranges depend on knowledge, skills, and experience.
