Opportunity Summary

Fork Truck Operator – Off Shift - Shipping Team $22.31 Hour to train plus shift differential

As a Forklift Driver in our busy shipping bay or warehouse, you will be responsible for operating an industrial forklift to track, load and unload trucks for delivering units to customers according to their requirements. You will keep accurate tally of what is shipped to customers. We are a high-volume manufacturing plant and you will be part of a team that loads up to 60 trailers a day. You may also operate banding machines to ensure pallets are ready to load. This is a union facility and we work 8-hour shifts, 12-hour shifts if OT is required. OT is paid at time and a half for over 40 hours worked. Our plant is not climate controlled.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the forklift daily at the start of the shift and complete the safety inspection checklist.
  • Safely track and move materials throughout the facility.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • Handle materials in a manner that prevents damage during shipment and storage.
  • Load and unload trucks according to department standards and customer demands.
  • Use RF scanner for receipts of returns or deliveries.
  • Verify counts, quantities, quality and descriptions of products and materials received, shipped or stored.
  • Support production lines by delivering products as requested.
  • Palletize or shrink wrap units as needed.
  • Complete paperwork accurately for movement of product and materials.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the warehouse and loading docks.
  • Perform regular inventory and cycle counts.
  • Safely change forklift propane tanks and/or batteries as needed.
  • Assist other departments as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Succeed

  • High School diploma or GED strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous forklift experience in a high-volume, high-speed environment
  • Forklift driver certification valid within the last 12 months is highly valued, but we will train you
  • Knowledge of machinery and ability to identify issues and troubleshoot equipment
  • Ability to learn proprietary software programs for Corrugated Manufacturing systems
  • Ability to read and write in English; ability to read and interpret documents and follow procedures
  • Basic arithmetic (decimals, fractions, ratios)
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Effective communication with all employees and customers
  • Good attendance and reliability; availability for overtime and weekends or other shifts
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, navigate stairs, and drive in reverse as required
