Work Description
- Operate construction hoist to lift and move loads such as machinery, equipment, products, and jobsite personnel using hoisting attachments (hook, sling, electromagnet, or bucket); observe load hookup and determine load safety.
- Manipulate or depress controls (pedals, levers, and buttons) to regulate speed and direction of forklift according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
- Clean and maintain forklift mechanism.
- Inspect forklift for defective parts and notify supervisors of defects and malfunctions.
- Attach load to hook or other hoisting accessory prior to operating forklift (when applicable).
- Understand load charts.
- Model-specific training and demonstrate competency.
- Belong to local union hall.

- Work is mainly outside and exposed to various weather conditions.
Essential Functions
- PHYSICAL
- Pass Pre-Employment and Regular Drug Tests.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record according to Hoffman’s Fleet Safety Program.
- Sitting: Constant (66% to 100% of a day).
- Bend (neck and back): Occasional (<33% of a day).
- Use of hands for repetitive grasping: Constant (66% to 100% of a day).
- Use of hands for pushing and pulling: Constant (66% to 100% of a day).
- Use of hands for fine manipulation: Constant (66% to 100% of a day).
- MENTAL
- Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail are required.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to make decisions and follow through on all assignments.
- Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired results.
- Must be able to plan and organize work.
- Must be physically fit: good vision (peripheral/distance/color), good hearing, and able to understand radio commands and hand signals.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Must have good dexterity with both hands and feet.
- Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
- Ability to sit all day.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- Work in a safe manner in compliance with Hoffman's Safety Policy.
- Good attendance.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
