Responsibilities:

  1. Learn and follow safety regulations.
  2. Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
  3. Operate machines such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes by starting engines, moving throttles, switches, or levers, or depressing pedals.
  4. Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to signals from crew members.
  5. Signal operators to guide movement of machines.
  6. Repair and maintain equipment, including emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs.
  7. Load and move materials using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.
  8. Monitor operations to ensure health and safety standards are met.
  9. Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkages, or power takeoff shafts to tractors.
  10. Attach bulldozer blades or other attachments to tractors using hitches.
  11. Operate loaders for operational functions or cleanup.
  12. Operate equipment to demolish or move debris.
  13. Keep records of material or equipment usage and issues encountered.
  14. Adjust handwheels and pedals to control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.
  15. Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure availability.
  16. Turn valves to control air or water output of compressors or pumps.
