Position Overview
The Weld Tech is responsible for ensuring welders are qualified and that their qualifications meet production requirements. This role includes instructing and training staff in various welding processes (SMAW, MGTAW, FCAW, GMAW), monitoring performance, and providing constructive feedback to promote growth. The Tech will guide employees on proper job setup and best practices, handle necessary paperwork, and obtain approvals from weld engineering. Additionally, they will assist in the setup, trial runs, and proof testing of welding operations, maintain inventory of materials and equipment, and perform minor maintenance on tools. The Welding Tech will also provide feedback to Operations Management on opportunities to improve welding practices. This position will also require the individual to substitute for the Mount Vernon High School instructor and attend during the week to help instruct and stay updated on the current curriculum for the School of Welding Technology.

Your Day to Day as a Weld Tech
- Ensures welders are qualified and maintains qualifications to meet production requirements.
- Instructs and trains employees in various welding processes, including SMAW, MGTAW, FCAW, and GMAW.
- Monitors welding performance, providing coaching and feedback to promote employee growth.
- Guides production staff on proper job setup and best practices for effective welding.
- Manages paperwork and secures approvals from weld engineering prior to acceptance testing.
- Maintains inventory of welding materials and performs minor maintenance on equipment as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Four (4) years of related experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work from prints, sketches, process sheets, templates, and written and verbal instructions.
- Proficient in navigating and operating applications within a Windows-based computer environment.

- Proven expertise in precision and exacting workmanship.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a manufacturing setting, showcasing ability to guide and motivate teams effectively.

Pay: $54,000 - $80,000
The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $54,000 and $80,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed at-will, unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
