Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Welding Engineer to develop in-house welding processes and expand welding capabilities in support of Kairos Power's FHR program. You will collaborate with design, testing, materials, modeling & simulation, and reliability engineers to develop weld joint designs, welding techniques, specifications, and inspection methods.
Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Welding Processes: Create welding procedures, select appropriate methods, evaluate techniques, and optimize production.
- Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS): Develop and maintain WPS and PQR in compliance with codes (AWS, ASME, API).
- Quality Control & Assurance: Review inspections, analyze test results, and implement corrective actions.
- Troubleshooting & Process Improvement: Diagnose issues, resolve problems, and improve processes.
- Collaboration & Training: Work with teams, train technicians, and promote best practices.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare reports, maintain records of procedures, inspections, and tests.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Weld Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in weld engineering.
- Experience with automated/semi-automated weld processes.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and weld symbols.
- Experience with weld inspection, NDE, and destructive testing.
- Knowledge of CAD software like SolidWorks is preferred.
- Experience with stainless steels, carbon steels, piping, and pressure vessels.
- Knowledge of ASME and AWS codes.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Physical & Environmental Conditions
Includes working at heights, in confined spaces, outdoors, and handling objects up to 50 pounds. Environments include high/low temperatures, noisy settings, and chemical fumes.
Other Requirements
- Overtime, weekend work, and schedule flexibility may be required.
- Some travel up to 10%.
- Compliance with safety and PPE standards is mandatory.
