Overview

Department D341 Welding and NDT Engineering - Suppliers and Strategic Sourcing is responsible for providing technical guidance to suppliers, as well as internal and external customers, regarding welding and fabrication of components used in the construction of nuclear submarines. A challenging opportunity exists within the Supplier Oversight Group.

Basic requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in audits of suppliers performing welding to ensure contractual requirements are being followed at the supplier’s location.
• Follow up on audit findings and work to address issues affecting in-process and delivered hardware.
• Review and approve supplier welding procedures.
• Distribute vendor information requests.
• Provide welding training and guidance to suppliers.
• Ideal candidates should have excellent communication skills to facilitate technical discussions with SUPSHIP or NAVSEA customers and Electric Boat management.
• Travel frequency varies; typically, travel to suppliers is one week at a time, up to once per month.
