Disclaimer - This opening is an off-shift role, where the right applicant will work hours outside of standard 1st shift. New hires will train on first shift during their first 3-12 months, dependent on the candidate’s experience level.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation, review, approval and release of written welding procedures in accordance with specifications and weld procedure qualifications.
  • Preparation and review of welding/fabrication plans (i.e., bead placement sketches, setup sheets, welding instructions).
  • Qualification, documentation, and maintenance of welding procedures and welders/weld operators.
  • Supervision of welders and welding operators on critical weld operations.
  • Trouble shooting of welding operations (i.e., weldability issues, welding equipment failures).
  • Identification, design, procurement, and implementation of welding equipment and/or fixture needs.

Job requirements

  • Applicants must have theoretical understanding of the gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, shielded metal arc, submerged arc, and plasma arc welding processes.
  • Actual welding proficiency is not required, but hands-on experience is desirable.
  • The Welding Engineer should have a working knowledge of commercial and/or military welding qualification and fabrication specifications through practical experience and/or school classes.
  • Applicants must have a theoretical understanding of the welding of ferrous and non-ferrous base metals. This includes, but is not limited to, the bulk base metal microstructure, bulk phase transformations of base metals and weld metal that can occur during welding, and the proper selection of filler metals.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering is required.
  • Willing to work an off shift once the training period has been completed. Shift premiums apply when moved off of 1st shift.

Pay: $63,000 - $99,000

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $63,000 and $99,000 per year. The base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details will be provided at the time of offer. If hired, the selected candidate will be employed "at-will," unless subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company reserves the right to modify base salary and other compensation or benefit programs at any time, including for reasons related to performance and market factors.
