Overview
Certified Welding Inspector role based in Raleigh, North Carolina. You will contribute to maintaining the safety and integrity of complex construction projects as an NDT/NDE Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). The position suits experienced inspectors ready to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Field Operations: Perform inspections and utilize non-destructive testing techniques to maintain high-quality standards, including ultrasonic testing (UT) of welds and magnetic particle testing (MT) of welds.
- Assignment Management: Coordinate testing assignments across various projects to ensure success.
- Equipment Maintenance: Keep testing equipment operational and calibrated; manage field and lab inventories, maintain calibration records, and participate in quality system audits.
- Comprehensive Reporting: Create detailed reports to communicate findings.
What You'll Do (Additional Context)
You will guide metals technicians on complex projects, oversee other technicians on assignments, and make technical decisions related to project timelines. The role involves fieldwork, including safely ascending steel structures up to heights over 200 feet with fall protection gear.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of 2 years of NDT/NDE metals testing experience OR an associate degree in a related field
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- ASNT Level II certification per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A in at least one method
- Additional certifications (a plus):
- ICC Building Inspections and/or Structural Steel Inspection
- Level II for UT, PT, MT
What to Expect
- Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
- Climbing heights over 200 feet
- Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs of materials and equipment
- Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
- Traveling out-of-town (overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when required
