Job Summary

Welding Technology Instructor at Whiteville Extension Campus. Responsible for teaching all areas of Welding Technology, remaining current in the welding field, and maintaining accreditation standards. Provides individualized classroom, lab, and field work instruction to postsecondary and secondary students to prepare them for employment in welding fields. Monitors, grades, and evaluates students’ progress and maintains student records. Assists in recruitment and placement of students. Maintains appropriate records and submits timely reports. Participates in professional development activities. Maintains good public relations with business and industry and develops and maintains an advisory group comprised of industry personnel for program improvement. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in the welding field within the last five (5) years.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Evidence of ability or potential ability to instruct all phases of welding. Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills of gas metal arc (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG), shielded metal arc (stick), oxyacetylene welding (gas), flux core welding, flame cutting, blue print reading, plasma arc cutting, grinding, brazing and soldering.
