Construction Inspector - Welding/Structural Bolting Inspector at Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc.

Location: Birmingham, AL

Base pay range: $100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr. Salary is based on experience and will be discussed with the manager in the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, inspect and provide reports on construction projects at federal facilities for compliance with plans and specifications regarding workmanship, materials, installation and construction methods.
  • Perform construction welding inspections related to steel fabrication.
  • Perform coating inspections and testing of various coating systems and application methods.
  • Perform structural bolting inspections and testing of various bolting methods and installation.
  • Provide recommendations or necessary changes to government personnel regarding contract plans and specifications across all phases of construction.
  • Monitor contractor’s quality system and administer the three-phase inspection process.
  • Provide surveillance at construction sites and assist the owner in problem resolution.
  • Deliver and review change orders, modifications, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Monitor contractor’s schedule.
  • Review and ensure QA and safety plans are adhered to by the contractor.
  • Utilize Resident Management System (RMS).

Education/Experience

  • High School graduate with 5 years of experience in construction welding inspections and 2 years in coating inspections and structural bolting inspections.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector in conformance with AWS QC1 with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in steel fabrication.
  • Nondestructive testing (NDT) personnel shall be qualified to ASNT.
  • Coating inspection requires NACE Level I or higher or SSPC Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1 or higher with formal training in coating inspections; minimum two (2) years of experience in inspection and testing of coating systems.
  • Structural Bolting Inspection experience and must be certified per AASHTO G4.2 guidelines; minimum two (2) years of experience in inspection and testing of structural bolting installations.
  • Experience with Three-Phase QC/Inspection process.
  • Experience preferred with EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual.
  • Experience preferred with Resident Management System (RMS).
