Overview

Welding Trainer Workforce Training and Continuing Education (WTCE) trainers are professional educators with the primary responsibility of fulfilling Texas Southmost College’s (TSC) mission, vision, values, and goals of providing a quality education for all students enrolled at the College. The trainer acts as a leader, teacher, adviser, and facilitator of learning. WTCE trainers are expected to engage in ongoing student recruitment and promote all product lines of TSC, including credit programs, non-credit/Workforce Training, and Dual Enrollment. They demonstrate service, excellence, and courteous behavior toward students, parents, employers, media, colleagues, and the public. WTCE trainers teach workforce-related, continuing education classes offered daytime, evening, weekends, and some college holidays at various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach day, evening, or weekend classes at several sites around the city.
  • Develop, revise, and continually update a cutting-edge, competency-based curriculum aligned with industry standards.
  • Manage learning environments with accurate syllabi, attendance records, grading, feedback, and adherence to meeting schedules.
  • Maintain a safe instructional environment and secure equipment; ensure students have opportunities for evaluation.
  • Assess student learning outcomes at unit, course, and program levels to meet employer expectations.
  • Provide timely and accurate advisement to students regarding career choices, preparation, and job opportunities.
  • Support students in achieving academic and career goals; participate in tours and recruitment events; utilize data-driven practices to manage enrollment and meet goals.
  • Participate in self, department, and college evaluation processes; adhere to TSC policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience teaching workforce-related, continuing education classes.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and accommodate daytime, evening, or weekend schedules.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development, instructional materials, and industry-aligned syllabi.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and student advisory skills.
