Responsibilities
- Oversee Austal USA testing and training of structural personnel in accordance with contract standards, criteria and specifications.
- Monitor testing of Austal USA external applicants, to all naval codes, criteria and specifications when applicable.
- Oversee testing and training of Austal USA employees' promotional testing, certification needs, and general training.
- Facilitate and oversee training platforms for entry-level employees.
- Monitoring, tracking and communicating training related metrics and statistics to MTC Management, partner company personnel and Production.
- Preparation of curriculum and lesson plans, as well as supporting training materials
- Computation and submission of testing and training results.
- Ability to maintain stock of inventory: coupons, filler material, consumables, etc.
- Basic filing and record keeping
- Champion company safety rules, procedures and protocols
- Maintain an environment conducive to training
- Be open to and assist in continuous improvement of process and procedures
- Complete documentation of testing and training related activities
- Demonstrate proper use, care and protection of company equipment
- Ensure students demonstrate proper use, care and protection of company equipment
- Commit to the principles of 5S
- Demonstrate exemplary work ethic
- Maintain appropriate instructor/student relationships

Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience
- Technical degree or applicable craft certification
- A minimum of 4 years in Pipe Welding
- A Class experience
- Demonstrate competent craft skills in applicable craft to Technical Training Management
- Journeyman certification in applicable craft through experience or completion of a certified program
- As applicable, possess and maintain weld certifications required for craft
- Possess thorough knowledge of craft procedures
- Instructional experience is
- Demonstrate the ability to diagnose and correct issues with applicable craft
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment and tools in addition to safe operation
- Basic skills in Microsoft applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint is
- Must be self-directed, able to take initiative, problem solve, and exercise good independent judgment
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in team environment
- Good written and oral communication skills

Physical Demands

- Must have the ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
- Perform prolonged standing.
- Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis.
- Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis.
- Lift/push/pull 50lbs to 75lbs on an occasional basis.
- Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis.
- Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and ramps).
- Ability to work at heights above 12' while working from ladders, scaffolding and/or man lifts.
- Able to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, overhead).
- Demonstrate the ability to safely and appropriately use required tools and equipment.
- Demonstrate good balance while working on uneven surfaces and maneuvering obstacles.
- Possess sufficient handgrip and coordination to carry and operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards.
- Ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures.
- Ability to enter 18" x 36" openings and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands.
- Able to utilize adequate visual skills.
- Ability to fully extend the arm while reaching overhead, reaching out, reaching to the side and reaching down.
- Ability to perceive attributes of an object/material such as size, shape, temperature and texture by means of receptors in the hands and fingers.
- Ability to project voice in classroom environment

Training may be supplied to support position. Travel will be necessary for certain training portions. Non-essential training shall be provided based upon performance and conduct. It is expected that the instructor is prepared to increase his/her understanding of the applicable standards and requirements.
