The Sports Instructor will provide leadership to different age groups while promoting a high-energy, fun, and positive environment for program participants. You will be responsible for planning sports programs and supervising various age groups in accordance with YMCA policies.

Pay is $16.60 per hour with opportunities to grow within the organization

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement sports and specialty programs aligned with YMCA goals and policies, ensuring activities are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate.
  • Teach fundamentals of sports/specialty areas based on participant age and skill level.
  • Supervise youth and/or adults to ensure safety and provide positive experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to foster positive relationships.
  • Guide staff and volunteers daily.
  • Maintain a fair discipline code for all players.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and report issues to supervisors.
  • Assist in developing special events and activities.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Prior experience in sports or specialty areas (playing, coaching, etc.) is required.
  • Comfortable working with multiple age groups.

Child Abuse Prevention:

  • Report hazards and suspicious behavior to supervisors.
  • Follow policies to ensure child safety in all programs and facilities.
  • Complete required child abuse prevention training.
