Overview
Pay Rate: $16.00/hr. Plus a Free YMCA Membership
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 4:45pm to 8pm and Saturday Mornings 9am to 12pm
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Youth Sports Instructor, assist in leading various sports and help with set-up, coordination of games, and time tracking to ensure successful games.
- Demonstrate YMCA leadership competencies to convey the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester.
- Assist Youth Sports Instructor with conducting league games and classes in a safe manner.
- Ensure all necessary tasks are completed prior to and during game play.
- Assist with developing and retaining participants.
- Maintain accurate records for league(s) and classes.
- Help create a climate that fosters YMCA goals and a fun, engaging atmosphere for all participants.
- Distribute handouts and evaluations to participants.
- Maintain proper care and storage of equipment.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain all required certifications.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- This person must be motivated, energetic and able to communicate with and organize diverse populations.
- An interest in people and an ability to work individually with each participant.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification is also required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
- Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting.
- Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations.
- Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
- Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather).
- Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.
