Overview:
HKS is seeking a Job Captain to join the Sports team.This role exercises independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques, and problem-solving when encountered. The candidate possesses and applies a broad knowledge of architectural principles, practices, and procedures to complete assignments with originality and ingenuity. They anticipate project expectations and contribute to design solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Modify or create implementation documents and complex drawings with limited guidance, applying architectural techniques and procedures requiring independent judgment.
- Coordinate design group interactions internally and externally, including assisting with consultant team sessions.
- Manage project work of the architectural team as appropriate.
- Perform design computations and document preparation, maintaining information flow to reflect the design intent, and coordinate with consultants to confirm system functionality.
- Assist with review, modification, and coordination of implementation documents prior to issue, ensuring code and zoning requirements are met.
- Contribute to higher-level work for training and development purposes.
- Execute deliverables according to scope of services, HKS standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
- Attend client or consultant meetings as needed.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss project and technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
- Recognize the financial aspects of a project and understand basic accounting principles involved in profitability.
- Be accountable for financial implications related to overhead and chargeable time, project plans, and utilization rates.
- Understand the importance of growing and maintaining client relationships and business development concepts.
- Assist in pursuing new project opportunities through relationship development or identifying additional work from existing clients.
Qualifications:
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture or related field.
- Actively pursuing Architectural Registration.
- Typically 4+ years of experience.
- Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
- Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software (including Rhino and Grasshopper) preferred.
- Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign preferred.
- Familiarity with computational design, parametric modeling, and energy modeling preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
- Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of architectural building systems.
- Knowledge of QA/QC and the specification process.
- Knowledge of building codes and the ability to research and incorporate them into technical documents.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.

Compensation:
Base Salary Range: $71-95k annually - Los Angeles location only.
The displayed range represents the general base salary for candidates hired in Los Angeles. Actual salary may vary based on internal equity, experience, education, and training.
