Overview
Inova Sports Medicine - Sterling is looking for a dedicated Sports Medicine Neuropsychologist to join the team. This full-time role is Monday–Friday, with 4 days in clinic and 1 day in clinical research, outreach, and fellow supervision. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.
About Inova Sports Medicine
Our sports medicine team is one of the few in the region with fellowship-trained sports medicine specialists – primary care physicians who received intensive training and education in sports medicine. At our center, we use a collaborative approach to care. Our physicians, orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare providers work together to deliver an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan for each patient.
About Inova Sports Concussion Program
The Sports Concussion Program within the Inova Sports Medicine Medical Group offers concussion care to individuals participating in all levels of sport including professional, collegiate, high school, and recreational. The neuropsychologist will serve as the lead clinician on each concussion case, overseeing care and rehabilitation from the injury until return-to-play and/or clearance is obtained. The neuropsychologist will also work with the Director of the Concussion program and the concussion team to initiate, develop, and maintain multidisciplinary collaborations with other healthcare professionals generally involved in the medical care and rehabilitation of concussion patients such as primary care sports medicine, physical therapy/athletic training, vestibular rehabilitation, neurology, neurosurgery, and behavioral optometry. The neuropsychologist will help in training and supervising post-doctoral neuropsychology fellows.

Job Responsibilities
- Conduct brief and extended neuropsychological evaluations for pediatric and adult athletes with sport-related concussion
- Evaluate patients with non-sport-related concussion and other neurological and psychiatric disorders
- Provide ongoing treatment planning, including management of recommended therapies
- Participate in clinical research initiatives
- Supervise and train post-doctoral fellows
- Engage in community outreach to schools and recreational leagues, including assistance with baseline testing
- Provide educational seminars and informational sessions for the public
- Develop relationships with community healthcare professionals (e.g., emergency departments, psychiatry, athletic trainers, coaches, primary care providers) to facilitate referrals and expand the Sports Concussion Program
- Deliver outpatient psychotherapy services, such as group therapy for concussion patients
Additional Requirements
- Work schedule: 8-hour shift (Monday – Friday, 4 days in clinic, 1 day for clinical research, outreach, and supervision post-doctoral fellows)
- Education: Doctoral degree in clinical and/or counseling psychology, APA-accredited internship, and a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology
- Licensure: VA licensure in Psychology; BLS from the American Heart Association
