Northview Church is launching a new sports ministry initiative, Northview Athletics, focused on redeeming youth sports through the pillars of competition, community, and character. We are seeking a Sports Ministry Director/Pastor to lead this exciting new endeavor. This role will build and lead youth travel sports programs—starting with basketball, baseball, and volleyball—while developing a distinctly Christ-centered coaching philosophy and culture.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, passionate about youth sports, pastoral in heart, organized in execution, and committed to building a Gospel-centered community both on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Vision

  • Champion the mission of Northview Athletics and provide pastoral leadership to the program.
  • Cast a compelling vision for redeeming youth sports through a Christ-centered approach.
  • Develop and implement a coaching and player development philosophy rooted in Biblical values.

Program Development

  • Launch and oversee youth travel teams in basketball, baseball, and volleyball.
  • Create and refine curriculum for athletes and coaches that integrates faith, leadership, and athletic development.
  • Coordinate player registration, team formation, and seasonal programming.
  • Schedule and facilitate Intramural activities for the Northview School of Ministry & Leadership including but not limited to: registrations, game/court usage, tournament organization, and equipment needs.

Coach Recruitment & Development

  • Recruit, train, and disciple volunteer and paid coaches.
  • Equip coaches to lead both athletically and spiritually through regular meetings, training, and support.
  • Ensure all coaches align with Northview’s theological beliefs and Northview Athletics’ core values.

League & Tournament Management

  • Register teams for appropriate leagues and tournaments.
  • Manage team schedules, travel coordination, and compliance with league/tournament requirements.
  • Oversee part-time program directors for each sport.
  • Serve as the main liaison with league officials and partner organizations.

Facility Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the leased sports facility used by Northview Athletics.
  • Schedule practices, games, training sessions, and special events.
  • Ensure the facility is safe, well-maintained, and welcoming to families and the community.

Pastoral & Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with families and athletes, providing spiritual care and community connection.
  • Organize devotional moments, team chapels, or small groups for athletes and families.
  • Partner with other church ministries to integrate families into the broader life of Northview Church.
Qualifications:
  • A deep, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with Northview Church’s beliefs and values.
  • Pastoral calling with a heart for reaching families through youth sports.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in ministry, youth sports, or coaching.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relational skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and shepherd teams of coaches and volunteers.
  • Experience in event planning, sports league operations, or facility management preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; seminary or ministry training preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

We are also required to measure our progress toward having at least 7% of our workforce be individuals with disabilities. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had a disability.
