Introduction
Founded in 1992, Adaptive Sports Connection (ASC) is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to serving
children, veterans and adults with disabilities through outdoor and therapeutic recreation and education.
The mission of the organization is:
To break through limitations with adaptive innovation, ensuring
people of all abilities the health benefits, freedom and sense of belonging
from recreation, education and outdoor experiences.
Today, the organization stands at a powerful inflection point, entering this next chapter with thriving and
growing programs, the completion of a successful $10 million comprehensive campaign to build an
Adventure and Wellness Lodge in Powell, Ohio, and a strong foundation built by a committed team,
engaged board, and a passionate network of volunteers and donors.
Adaptive Sports Connection (ASC) is seeking a visionary, mission-driven President & CEO to lead the
organization into an exciting new chapter of growth, innovation, and impact. This leadership opportunity
arises from a planned and thoughtful transition, as long-time President & CEO Sharon Bucey moves into
a newly created Strategic Advisor role in January 2026. In this capacity, she will focus on advancing key
initiatives, cultivating strategic partnerships, and ensuring long-term sustainability for ASC.
With a strong foundation, dedicated team, and growing community support, Adaptive Sports Connection
is poised for transformative growth. The next President & CEO will have a unique opportunity to build on
ASCs momentum, shape the organizations strategic future, and expand its reach and impact for years to
come.
Position Overview
The President & CEO will be the strategic and operational leader of Adaptive Sports Connection, driving
vision, overseeing programs, managing staff and financials, and serving as the organizations key
spokesperson and relationship-builder. In partnership with the Board of Directors, this individual will
ensure ASCs long-term sustainability, programmatic excellence, and continued growth.
This is a remarkable opportunity for a bold, entrepreneurial leader to activate strategy, deepen
partnerships, and expand ASCs reach, working onsite at the Powell, Ohio office and alongside a
passionate and mission-aligned team.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to build a high-performing, mission-driven
organization recognized for operational excellence and impact - Lead the execution of the current strategic plan
- Work closely with the Board and staff to align funding strategies and impact goals
- Serve as the organizations chief spokesperson and community champion
- Foster a culture of agility, accountability, and innovation
Fundraising and Financial Oversight
- Through the development, marketing, and programs teams, creatively direct revenue generation,
key relationships, and fundraising strategy - Lead a talented and growing fundraising team and creatively shape fundraising strategy and donor
engagement - Identify and secure grant funding and cultivate donor relationships
- Promote entrepreneurial, mission-aligned earned revenue opportunities
- Ensure sound financial management in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer
People and Culture
- Lead and inspire a values-aligned staff and volunteer network
- Build a high-performance culture centered on inclusion, innovation, and collaboration
- Mentor and support direct reports with clear expectations and strong communication
- Prioritize staff development, morale, and team building
Community and National Presence
- Cultivate and maintain strong local partnerships and volunteer engagement
- Monitor and advocate for legislation relevant to ASCs mission
- Pursue bold partnerships and funding sources nationally to grow ASCs reach and profile
- Represent ASC across media, public events, coalitions, and relevant boards and task forces
- Oversee marketing, branding, and communications efforts with support from internal and external
teams
Qualifications
- 15+ years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit, business, or related fields
- Demonstrated success in organizational growth, revenue generation, and partnership development
- Passion for the Adaptive Sports Connection mission
- Strong board engagement skills and knowledge of nonprofit governance
- Excellent communicator and relationship-builder with a collaborative, authentic leadership style
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver measurable results
- Comfortable navigating change, complexity, and growth in a values-driven environment
- Background in adaptive sports, disability inclusion, outdoor recreation, or social services is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
Adaptive Sports Connection offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
This includes an annual base salary ranging between $150,000 and $170,000 as well as a performance
based bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
