Overview
The Brown Sports Network is seeking Production Crew team members to assist with the live broadcast productions of Brown University Athletics varsity sports, viewable on ESPN+, NESN, NESN+, and Stretch. Collaboratively, Brown Sports Network Production Crew is responsible for creating professional level broadcasts by operating cameras, graphics, replay, or other production equipment. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, Brown is a member of the Ivy League with 34 varsity teams and approximately 1,000 athletes who participate in NCAA Division I athletics.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Setup of production equipment (eg: tripods, cameras, cabling)
- Pulling, running, and wrapping cables
- Operate production equipment based on skill level (eg: camera, graphics, 3Play, Tricaster, Audio, Official Review, TOC)
- Communicate with production crew, officials, and broadcasters
- Tear down and organize equipment after events
- Other tasks based on experience and specific job duties within production (eg: camera operator framing, replay operator creating melts post game)
Experience Levels and Qualifications
- Basic: Basic knowledge of broadcasts and broadcast cameras (shoulder and mounted), understanding of framing (wide/game, close follow, hero shots) and camera directions (pan, tilt, zoom). Looking to learn and gain additional experience in broadcast production.
- Experienced: Experienced camera operator with ability to operate most control room equipment such as 3Play, graphics, and audio. Knowledge of cables, their uses, setup and teardown, and ability to assist others.
- Veteran: Veteran with experience in all aspects of production, ability to direct certain multi-camera broadcasts, exceptional camera operation aware of cues, troubleshooting experience, understanding workflows, and fiber/fiber converter experience. Able to lead setup of production equipment and teardown equipment independently when necessary.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; duties are to be performed in compliance with NCAA and Ivy League rules. Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (available at no cost through the Division), and attend required training programs.
