Duties
- Performs duties under the general direction of the CYS Services Sports and Fitness Director or Assistant Sports and Fitness Director.
- Serves as Army CYS Services sports official with primary responsibility of officiating basketball, baseball/softball, soccer, volleyball, flag football or other organized sports within the Youth Sports and Fitness Program.
- Displays an appropriate professional demeanor at all times and manages participant and spectator behavior to ensure sportsmanship is maintained at all times. Handles on-site disputes involving participant or spectator conflicts.
- Inspects sporting equipment, playing area, and/or examines participants for correct attire in order to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations. Directs participants to assigned areas such as starting blocks, side of field/court.
- Confers with other sports officials, coaches and participants and facility managers in order to provide information, coordinate activities and discuss problems. Compiles scores and other athletic records.
Requirements
- Proof of education is required at the time of application.
- Good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease (verified through physical examination). Immunizations must be current including annual influenza vaccinations.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- All required background checks of AR 215-3 and the Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained, including Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI).
- A current health assessment is required. Immunizations are required including annual flu vaccination. Vision sufficient to execute job requirements.
- Physical demands: Stamina sufficient to stand, walk, run, or squat for long periods of time commensurate with the sport to be officiated. The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs (heavier items with assistance).
