Overview

Position: Assistant Sports Information Specialist – Location: New London, CT. Opening date: 22 September 2025. Closing date: 6 October 2025. Work Schedule: Intermittent (0-19 hours/week). Salary: $21.24/hour. Pay Plan/Series/Pay Band: NF-1001-03. Who may apply: All Sources.

Duties

Assists with planning, organizing and executing all aspects of a robust sports information program at the United States Coast Guard Academy, covering 23 NCAA Division III sports and six club sports. Staff home varsity athletic events to include primary game-day statistical support and live-streaming of home events. Other duties may include information management, announcing, pre- and post-game write-ups, social media postings, contest management, updating athletics website and contest/team information and stories of interest. Coordinate with other sports information programs, NCAA personnel, coaches, event staff/contractors and contest managers.

The Assistant Sports Information Director will be responsible for certain teams and sports, based on background/skills. An outline of what needs to be completed each season (fall, winter, spring) will be reviewed, but execution will be the responsibility of the Associate Athletic Directors and Sports Information Director. The Athletics Director may also assign related work assignments.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Understanding of NCAA athletics
  • Ability to gather and publish statistics at competitions
  • Experience with live-streaming contest on FloCollege through Playsight

Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

  • Experience with websites and social media
