Overview
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a DENTAL HYGIENIST to work under general supervision of the attending dentist and according to established policies and procedures. The hygienist renders routine dental hygiene care such as scaling, root planing, curettages, cavitrons, polishing, applying sealants and administering fluoride treatments. Takes, develops and mounts radiographs of patient\'s teeth as necessary. May perform various administrative and clerical duties in support of department operations. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric. Will serve registered patients of the 1917 Dental Clinic at UAB.
Salary Range: $22.90 - $37.25
Responsibilities
- Provide routine dental hygiene care under general supervision according to established policies and procedures (scaling, root planing, curettages, cavitrons, polishing).
- Apply sealants and administer fluoride treatments as part of preventive care.
- Take, develop and mount radiographs of patient\'s teeth as needed.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties to support department operations.
- Respond to the needs of patients across the lifespan (newborn through geriatric) and serve registered patients of the 1917 Dental Clinic at UAB.
Qualifications
Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed with a Dental Hygiene License from the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners.
