Job Description
Position Summary: The Night Shift Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of materials into the facility during the night shift. This role involves unloading inbound shipments and preparing materials for storage or distribution. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment safely. This position is critical to the timely processing of inventory and supports the overall supply chain operations of the company.
Responsibilities (May be dependent upon shift):
- Unload and Inspect Incoming Freight: Unload incoming freight, sign delivery documentation, and review the bill of lading against the quantity and quality of parts received. Noting any damage upon delivery is critical per Receiving Damaged Inbound Material TPI-227-R.
- Scrap Material Management: Load and organize scrap wood and regrind trailers.
- Inventory and Material Management: Maintain the part order and storage yard areas. Assist in pulling parts to fulfill orders and packaging parts for outbound shipments, including using power tools for crating.
- Support Production and Plant Operations: Assist in the stockroom, receive items, and support other plant areas as needed. Attend production meetings to stay informed and aligned.
- Maintain a Safe and Organized Workspace: Keep work areas clean and organized daily, adhering to safety procedures and guidelines.
- Documentation and Procedures: Follow all training, processes, and procedures diligently.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience with warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. Forklift certification and manlift/scissor lift training will be provided if needed.
- Inventory and Scheduling: Experience with inventory systems, counting, and maintaining min/max or bin reserve systems.
- Inspection and Documentation: Experience in checking incoming freight and managing paperwork with attention to detail.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with Outlook and ability to learn proprietary software.
- Mechanical Skills: Ability to use hand tools and read measurements to 1/32 inch.
- Training and Standards: Willing to undergo required training and meet quality standards.
- Work Ethic: Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Climb, bend, kneel, and reach overhead.
- Work in various temperature conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
- Good visual acuity and depth perception.
