Overview
Niagara Bottling is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Night Shift. The role focuses on ensuring equipment uptime through timely troubleshooting and repair of production equipment and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, drawings, and testing equipment.
- Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment at the facility.
- Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
- Maintain industrial control systems.
- Work independently and with team members to complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.
- May fill in for production operator as needed.
- Create and report repairs throughout shift and complete required work order paperwork, documenting parts and material usage.
- Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment where required.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance as an essential function of the job to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 years – Experience in a field or similar maintenance environment
- 4 years – Experience in a maintenance position
- 4 years – Experience managing people/projects
- Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
- Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Skilled in using shop equipment (hydraulic/mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools).
- Proficient in precision measuring equipment (calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges).
- Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of the plant or machine center.
- Must have own toolbox and basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 years – Experience in field or similar manufacturing environment
- 6 years – Experience in position
- 6 years – Experience managing people/projects
- Experience in high-speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries
- Experience with technologies such as VFDs, servo drives, rotary equipment, thermodynamics/heat transfer, and major equipment brands (Krones, Sidel, Husky)
- HVAC including chillers and/or air compressors
- Experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting
- Fabrication skills (cutting and welding: MIG, TIG, or stick)
- Electrical experience with 480VAC and 24VDC power
- Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams
- Experience repairing variable frequency drives, servo motors/controllers, communication systems, PLC I/O cards, and safety modules
Education
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation, or similar
