The Innovation and Development Division (IDD) drives the innovation strategy for the Hubs and Operations, contributing to the Group's transformation. It is responsible for imagining, developing, and incubating new solutions until they are brought to market, especially those with high technological content (digital and IT). IDD comprises over 3,000 employees from 70 nationalities across 60 sites.

The Global Markets & Technologies (GM&T) World Business Unit provides technological solutions—molecules, equipment, and services—to support emerging markets in energy transition, maritime logistics, and scientific exploration, aiming to accelerate Air Liquide’s sustainable growth. GM&T offers environmentally friendly solutions such as hydrogen energy, Bio-Natural Gas for vehicles, nitrogen-based refrigerated transport, and biogas treatment and injection into energy grids.

Our Newport, DE Manufacturing plant specializes in separating gases from the atmosphere and purifying them into oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and other rare gases. Our Operations team in Newport is seeking a Manufacturing Operator working on a 12-hour shift, reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

This role utilizes Lean Manufacturing principles and offers opportunities to learn and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Set up, operate, and maintain production equipment.
  2. Follow specifications, work instructions, recipes, and procedures aligned with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  3. Install fixtures and tooling for machine setup based on work orders and specifications.
  4. Adjust machine settings and synchronize speeds to produce quality products.
  5. Activate machinery, monitor operations, diagnose malfunctions, and report issues.
  6. Operate equipment across plant areas to produce and prepare products for shipment.
  7. Maintain machinery, replace worn parts, and perform preventive maintenance.
  8. Record product data accurately for work order completion.
  9. Move materials, load them into machines, and inspect products and incoming materials.
  10. Support training of new operators and ensure safety and environmental standards are met.
  11. Maintain a clean, organized work area and proper waste disposal.
  12. Contribute to safety improvement programs and adhere to company policies.

Qualifications and Competencies

Required:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machines/tools
  • Basic computer skills in an industrial setting
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision

Preferred:

  • Manufacturing experience
  • Military technical training

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Operate controls and work at heights
  • Handle chemicals with PPE
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Operate forklifts and similar equipment
  • Work flexible hours within plant operations

Schedule & Compensation

The hourly rate in Delaware is $23.75 + $1.50 shift differential. The schedule involves a 2-3-4 rotation, with straight night shifts from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., including two weekends per month.
