Overview
Machine Operator I position with responsibilities in setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. Requires thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.
Job Details
Base Pay: $18.50 per hour + $1.00 for shift differential
Hours vary by shift and operations. Training may occur on 1st shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm).
Shifts
2nd Shift: 4:30 pm - 1:30 am (hours may vary by operations). Training may occur on 1st shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand and follow safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
- Set up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
- Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
- Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting with emphasis on safety and quality.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required.
- Mark part numbers and pieces on parts; attach identification tags as needed for traceability.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select correct raw materials or semi-finished parts.
- Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area and provide cost-saving suggestions to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems; read a tape measure and follow posted schedules.
- Operate scanning equipment where required; be a team player and keep safety first.
- May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader; willingness/ability to work overtime.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of one year of related manufacturing experience or in a comparable environment.
- Minimum of one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment.
- Good communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns.
- Ability to use measuring gauges and read a tape measure.
- Forklift experience a plus; must be trainable on forklift.
- Crane experience a plus; must be trainable on crane.
- Flexible with overtime and weekend work when needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.

This is a position with potential overtime. Shifts can be 8, 10, or 12 hours depending on work orders and seasonality.
