Position Summary:
This position is responsible for planning materials to be used and sequences of operations, setting up and operating machines and equipment and performing progressive machining operations, producing precision parts of varying complexity often involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements, inspecting completed parts, completing documentation, assembling parts as required and providing training to Machinists.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and verify materials to be used and methods and sequences of operations to be performed on each job as directed by documentation or supervision.
2. Set up machines and equipment, assuring appropriate feeds and speeds, stops, clamps, fixtures and tooling are selected.
3. Operate machines and equipment and perform progressive machining operations in order to produce precision parts of varying complexity, often involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements, according to customer specifications by interpreting blueprints and drawings while following manufacturing processes and procedures.
4. Inspect completed parts according to the specifications, including visually inspecting the surface for appearance and non-conformities. Follow procedures as needed to address non-conformities.
5. Complete required documentation for all jobs responsible for, including entering data into ERP system.
6. Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly when required.
7. Provide guidance and training to Machinists.
8. Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment, adhering to 5S principles.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Four years to eight years relevant experience.
• Experience with milling, turning or grinding.
• Experience setting up and operating machine tools.
• Intermediate ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in the use of machinist hand tools and measuring tools, process planning and inspection.
• Machine shop math skills.
• Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience editing programs through machine controls.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability in a machine shop environment.
• Experience using an ERP system.
• A related machine trades certificate/diploma

o Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks
• Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope
• Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work
• Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives
• To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact

Physical Demands

• Strength, agility and movement: Work involves frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and handling of materials and parts, from racks, pallets or baskets. Occasionally climbs on the machines to reach areas requiring cleaning, maintenance and adjustment. Travel within the facility is frequent.
• Level of exertion: Work ranges between medium and heavy consisting of occasional exertion and of up to 50 pounds of force and movement of up to 20 pounds frequently. Work requires repetitive hand motions and frequent grasping of tools and materials.
• Sensory ability: Good vision is required, particularly near vision for inspection of tooling, components and reading measuring devices. Field of vision needs to be sufficient to work safely around machines. Depth perception and hand-eye coordination need to be sufficient for tool insertion, machine set-up and computer operation. Good hearing is required to monitor machine sounds. Ability to feel part finish.
• Communications: Verbal and written communication with customers and employees is required.

Mental Requirements

• Reading: The ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, engineering drawings and specification sheets is required.
• Writing: Writing skills at a level consistent with preparing documentation and signing off on work performed is required.
• Verbal skills: Verbal communication needs to be at a level consistent with providing explanations on technical matters such as when instructing others in the operation of a machine.
• Reasoning ability: Reasoning ability needs to be at a level consistent with solving apparent problems through probing or research for precise identification. Solutions are based on standard operating procedures or well established precedent.

Working Conditions

• Eye protection is required at all times.
• Exposure to moving parts, equipment and coolants.
• Occasional exposure to loud noise requiring hearing protection
• Occasional exposure to fumes requiring respiratory protection.

Compensation and Benefits Overview

Starting Pay Range for this position is $30-$40 / Hour
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with applicable county or city regulations if they exceed the listed range. Actual pay rates are determined based on various factors, including but not limited to, local labor market conditions, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language proficiency, and other job-specific qualifications.
