Overview

HonorHealth is a nonprofit healthcare system serving the greater Phoenix area. The Environmental Services Technician performs a variety of heavy cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the hospital, following established protocols to achieve quality standards and facility objectives.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician performs cleaning and floor refinishing functions, operates floor care equipment and other necessary tools, and gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials.

  • Places linen on distribution carts. Folds and stages scrub sets for stocking in Scrub Ex machines. Cleans and organizes linen room.
  • Fills requisitions for housekeeping supplies, delivers and replenishes nursing unit supply closets. Stages Housekeeper carts with supplies, chemicals and mops. Fills requisitions for housekeeping supplies. Delivers and stocks in designated storage areas.
  • Dusts mops floors and corridors as assigned.
  • Inspects cleaning equipment and performs scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Participates in patient safety rounding. Monitors patient for signs of distress. Alerts Nursing personnel when intervention or clinical monitoring is required.
  • Maintains hard surface floors by following daily and periodical floor care processes, including stripping and refinishing per standards. Inspects cleaning equipment and performs preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains soft surface floors (carpet) with appropriate care and spot-cleaning techniques to meet organizational standards.
  • Performs daily cleaning of assigned patient/non-patient areas and equipment according to department procedures, aiming for quality inspection standards of 90% or higher.
  • Cleans and sanitizes/makes beds on transfers/discharges; ensures cleaning is completed promptly with inspection-based quality targets.
  • Transports regular waste, medical waste, and linen to designated areas; maintains clean soiled utility rooms and waste carts. PPE is worn as required.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED - Preferred
  • Less than High School - Required

Experience

  • 12 to 24 months - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver License - Required
  • Other: For positions requiring driving HonorHealth vehicles, must meet requirements: clean driving record, 21 years or older, valid AZ driver's license, MVR check, and successful completion of HonorHealth Defensive Driving Course.
