The machinist role involves operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, such as grinding and milling machines, to produce precision parts. Machinists repair or produce parts using manual and automated equipment, following blueprints and technical drawings, and are responsible for work assignments under supervision.

CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental rules and policies.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards and integrity as outlined in our Code of Conduct.

  • Apply common sense to follow instructions in various formats.
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve problems.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.

  • Maintain high quality and attention to detail in close-tolerance manufacturing.
  • Possess intermediate math skills for measurement and testing.
  • Replace cutting tools to meet product standards.
  • Operate overhead cranes safely.
  • Use inspection tools like micrometers, calipers, and hand tools proficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and manuals, with knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Adjust machine feeds and speeds as necessary.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Align and secure fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
